Passage: Luke 19:45-48

Preacher: Bill Massey

Category: Sunday Morning

Detail:

Sermon Intro: “The die is cast.” So said Julius Caesar famously when he led his army across the Rubicon River to conquer Rome. Ceasar meant the point of no return had been reached. There would be no turning back. And the same could be said of Jesus when he rode a donkey into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday. Jesus’ final week of life was before him. The climactic events of his last days were about to unfold. He knows that in the purposes of God, he will be shamefully treated and crucified. But he’s not going to the cross as a helpless victim. No! He is the Lord and Master who has set his face like flint to go to give his life as the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. In this way, Jesus will fulfill his mission given him by his Father. He will create a new house of prayer - a new temple with a new people who, like him, possess a new zeal for the Lord.
