Sermon Intro: Was Jesus a great angelic being? Or was he a great prophet or teacher or martyr or founder of a new religion? As we will see in these opening verses, religious people, in particular, are often confused about such questions. And if our relationship with God hinges on having right thoughts about Jesus then nothing is more important than listening carefully to who God says Jesus is. These opening verses tell us not simply that God has spoken, but that Jesus Christ is God’s final word about how we may know him.
