Passage: Hebrews 11:27-29

Preacher: Bill Massey

Series: Faith Victorious

Category: Sunday Morning

Detail:

Sermon Intro: God’s mighty act of redemption, which the writer of Hebrews speaks about in our passage, made God’s OT people sing for joy. Over and over, they remembered with thanksgiving how God uniquely chose them in love, how he spared them from his judgment through the blood of the Passover Lamb, and how through his servant Moses, he redeemed Israel from bondage through the sea with a mighty hand. But we know that act of redemption pointed to the greater redemption we enjoy through faith in Christ, our Redeemer. John the Baptist proclaimed Jesus as the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world and the writer of Hebrews calls Jesus the new Moses - worthy of greater honor (Heb. 3:3) - who leads God’s people out of bondage to sin and into the promised land of eternal life with him. This gives us ample reasons to sing.

  1. Redemption From Our Fears
  2. Redemption By God's Love
  3. Redemption From Our Enemies
