Passage: Ephesians 5:15-21

Preacher: Bill Massey

Series: God's New Community

Category: Sunday Morning

Detail:

Sermon Intro: During the Old Covenant period, the temple was the unique dwelling place of God. But in our day of the New Covenant, we have something far better! God has made us the dwelling place of his Spirit and presence. In Chapter 2, Paul said that the church's union with Christ is the holy Temple in which God’s presence dwells. He said, “In Christ, you are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.” What a sense of privilege this reality should fill us with! The Spirit of God has taken up residence in his people from the greatest to the least. But also, what a holy sense of responsibility we have. “Do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit” Paul exhorts. We share a responsibility in maintaining the fullness of God’s Spirit in our lives.

  1. The fullness of the Holy Spirit.
  2. The fruit of the Holy Spirit.
