John Spalding
My name is John Spalding. My brother, sister, and I grew up at CPC. My father was a founding elder of the church, serving from 1988 to 2022, and now as elder emeritus. He was a counseling psychologist here in Chattanooga; Mom was a CPA. Both of my parents are enjoying retirement.
I have worshipped the Lord with the other members of CPC since the beginning of this congregation in 1988. I feel called to remain at Covenant Presbyterian Church at this point, well, because of all the precious covenantal relationships I have here! It has been a glorious journey to see the Lord work among us, in Chattanooga, and throughout the world through his people at CPC.
About 25 years ago, it seemed that the Lord was nudging me to gravitate toward mercy ministry here at CPC. Shortly after being ordained as a deacon in the PCA in 2005, I found a niche on the Mercy Committee. Since that time, the Lord has been helping me gradually to become more and more wise and merciful toward myself and others.
I love listening to nonfiction books, writing poetry, praying with friends, and sharing God’s love with my little nieces and nephew.
