Jay and I were married in September of 1985 and we have been blessed with two adult children. Our daughter Taylor Smoak and our son Andrew both work for JDH Company, Jay’s commercial roofing, and sheet metal company. Our other “child” is Bentley who loves to walk and is the most perfect dog in the world!
I grew up in Chattanooga and graduated with a degree in Secondary Education with an emphasis in Business. After teaching secretarial classes at a small Christian college and business classes to high school students, I later fell in love with using my secretarial skills and began working at Precept Ministries where I met my husband Jay who also worked there at the time. Once we were married, I began working at The Krystal Company as a secretary and helped with the beginning of the franchising of Krystal restaurants as a franchising coordinator. God then blessed me with the privilege of spending the next few years at home raising our kids.
After being raised in a Christian home, and sitting under the teaching of the gospel, God drew me to Himself at a young age. During my early years, most of my friendships, and activities revolved around church life since both of my parents were actively involved in various ministries of our church. In 1995, Jay and I came to CPC and have been so richly blessed by the teaching of God’s word from our pastors and leaders. God has used the presbyterian church government to guide us through so many crossroads in our years together, and we know He specifically placed us at CPC for His purposes and glory. After volunteering for several years in different ministries and eventually in the church office, I started working full-time in 2010 as a church secretary. I absolutely love my job and consider it a privilege to be able to serve the church body at CPC!
I enjoy reading, walking my dog, listening to podcasts, working on jigsaw puzzles, traveling to various places including staying at Disney World Resorts and spending time with family and friends.
