Serving With:

Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA)

Background:

Jay and Bev Fowler are both Chattanooga natives. They married after college graduations: Jay from West Point and Bev from Texas Christian University. After several years of active duty with the Army, Jay worked for a few years in Jacksonville, FL before accepting the call to serve with FCA in Middle Tennessee. After a few years there, Jay was asked to take the Chattanooga FCA position. For over 21 years, Jay has served as the Greater Chattanooga/Southeast Tennessee area FCA Director. Jay and Bev live in Ringgold, have four grown children, and are active members of Covenant Presbyterian Church.

Ministry:

FCA was founded in 1954 and the FCA vision is to see the world impacted for Jesus Christ through the influence of coaches and athletes. Their mission is to lead every coach and athlete into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and His church. Locally, FCA serves on over 60 campuses (college, high school, middle school) in a five-county area and carries out its mission through Coaches Bible Studies, team ministry, multi-sport campus huddles, summer camps, and a variety of events such as Fields of Faith and Training Day. As FCA matures, we seek to make disciples through our methods of engaging, equipping, and empowering coaches and athletes to know and grow in Christ and lead others to do the same.

 Prayer Requests:

  • For staff and volunteers to faithfully obey the Great Commission and make disciples of coaches and athletes who will make disciples of others
  • For ministry funding and faithful stewardship
  • For God to raise up workers (both staff and volunteers) to serve on the mission field of area schools
  • For their marriage and family
