Just having Dr. Rob Rayburn with us on Sunday has reminded me to share one of my favorite articles of his. Way back in 2003 he wrote a helpful article in Covenant Magazine of Covenant Theological Seminary, titled, Finding God’s Will.
While we’re at it, my favorite book on discernment is Kevin DeYoung’s, Just Do Something: A Liberating Approach to Finding God’s Will. I also like Tim Challies, The Discipline of Spiritual Discernment and Jerry Bridges, Is God Really in Control. From a sharp theological vantage point, you’ll be challenged by Bruce Waltke, Finding the Will of God: A Pagan Notion?, which is a great book. Finally, if you are considering a call to ministry, nobody will ever write a better book than Edmund Clowney, Called to the Ministry.
Apart from these book-length considerations, I have recommended to many this short article on discernment by Dr. Rayburn. Enjoy.
