I enjoy listening to sermons, as I’ve shared in Finding Good Sermons and Finding good sermons (again).
I also enjoy podcasts that devote time to focus on books of the Bible or passages. I usually prefer shorter podcasts because a 10 to 20 minute discussion on a short text is energizing. Here are my top six.
- I like the short and practical interviews conducted by Nancy Guthrie at Help Me Teach the Bible.
- Exegetically Speaking is a short-format podcast that comes from Wheaton College and the Lanier Theological Library in Houston, Texas, which focuses on archaeology and ancient texts.
- The guys at the Bible Project do a great job producing their Bible Project Podcast, long podcasts focusing on a biblical theological framework.
- I like the biblical readings and reflections of English scholar, Alastair Roberts who posts at Alastair’s Adversaria. He also serves as a fellow of both The Theopolis Institute and The Davenant Institute. His podcasts are very clear, usually just over 20 minutes.
- I like At the Castle, a ministry that offers conferences and retreats that expose young adults to clear teaching on the Bible. These talks/sermons take place in Northern Ireland, but the ministry is led by Tim Chester, pastor of Grace Church in England. You can see all of their talks.
- I also appreciate The Naked Bible podcast produced by Michael Heiser, although they are always long.
