I recently was blessed to meet a missionary couple who was visiting Chattanooga for a few days. The wife is not from the United States, and she did not grow up in a Christian family. I will call her Meg. Part of Meg’s journey of God drawing her to Himself began with her sadness over a close relative who had passed away. Meg was very sad not knowing if she would ever see this relative again, or even where this relative was; i.e., was there an afterlife? God's Spirit prompted Meg that somehow if she was in the Christian faith then she would go to heaven and possibly see this relative again. This created a desire in her to learn more about the Christian faith of the Bible. In our meeting, Meg challenged me to appreciate the heritage of faith that I received, as well as biblical knowledge that she has only found in her adult years.
As the Women's Ministry team seeks to plan Bible studies, special events, and other opportunities to meet together, would you get involved? Would you grow to appreciate the Faith that you have? Would you seek to deepen your relationship with the Lord? Would you cultivate your walk with Jesus and your knowledge of His Word? If Covid pulled you away from Bible studies or fellowship with other believers, would you come back to them? Would you gather together with your sisters? And would you seek to “stir up one another to love and good works”? That is our desire as we serve the ladies of CPC.
Our theme verse for this year is Hebrews 10.24-25, “And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.”
Currently, there are two formal Bible studies meeting: a Precept study of 1st & 2nd Timothy and Titus that meets on Thursday mornings, and a book study of Becoming a Woman of Grace on Tuesday evenings. Our first special event is the Fall Seminar on Saturday October 8, and you can register right now! Special guest Stephanie Formenti will lead us in this active, hands-on study time. Stephanie is currently the Chapel Associate for Discipleship at Covenant College. We will start at 9 am with a light breakfast and continue until 3 pm learning more about loving, even craving, God’s Word. The cost is $10 and includes all materials, a light breakfast, a yummy lunch, and important fellowship time with one another.
Our Advent special event will be on December 10, and we are also planning an overnight retreat in February 2023. These are just a few of the opportunities to gather together, but there will be more. We hope that you will join us for these events as well as find ways to use your gifts to serve our church body in other ways. If you have any questions, thoughts, or more ideas for “stirring up one another,” please feel free to contact any member of the Women's Ministry team:
